In 1988, the first official Moore Family Reunion was organized by Johnnie Greer in Dallas, Texas. What began as a simple family barbecue and picnic provided an opportunity for relatives to reconnect, share memories, and celebrate their family history. The gathering was such a success that it established a tradition that would continue for decades to come.
Today, the Moore Family Reunion has grown into a highly anticipated annual event that spans an entire weekend of activities, fellowship, and celebration. With an average attendance of approximately 90 family members, the reunion serves as a meaningful occasion for preserving family history, strengthening relationships, and ensuring that future generations remain connected to the legacy of Willis Moore and Lou Williams.

The Moore family legacy begins with Willis Moore of Texas and Lou Williams of Louisiana. Together, they raised seven children, all of whom were born in Texas. As the family grew and future generations established roots of their own, family members settled in various communities throughout Texas, including Crockett and Rusk, while others made their homes in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Louisiana; and Tennessee. Despite the distance, the family's strong bonds and shared heritage have continued to connect generations across multiple states.
